House Demolition
We tear down houses, garages and outbuildings across Tampa Bay. The slab and footers come out and the debris leaves on our own dump trucks. The ground gets graded flat for whatever comes next.

Demolition and land clearing in Apollo Beach take place on ground that was once called unlivable. The story starts in 1923, on land the Dickman family used for farming and grazing. Much of it was mangrove and low ground, and people thought no one could live there. Digging began on the Flamingo Canal near U.S. 41. In 1957, Francis Corr, a retired businessman from Michigan, bought the land. A South Carolina contractor joined him in early 1958 to keep dredging the canals. Today about 55 miles of canals lead out to Tampa Bay. The listed elevation of the community is just 7 feet. It is still unincorporated, a census designated place in Hillsborough County.
Growth has come fast. The census counted 14,055 people here in 2010 and 26,002 in 2020, a gain of 85 percent. U.S. 41 runs through the middle of the community, and I-75 crosses its eastern side. Gibsonton borders it on the north, and Ruskin borders it on the south. In September 2024, Hurricane Helene pushed storm surge into the neighborhoods along the canals. In one evacuation zone A home, the garage contents floated in that surge, WFLA reported. When a flooded house is past saving, taking down a storm damaged house clears the lot to build back. Our excavators and our own dump trucks run down from our base in the Citrus Park area of Tampa.

A rebuild on an Apollo Beach canal lot starts with the flood zone on the FEMA map. In a VE zone, federal rules require new homes to stand on pilings or columns. The same rules prohibit fill as structural support for buildings in V and VE zones. In an AE zone, the rule is different. There, a new home needs its lowest floor at or above the base flood level. The county site plan must name the foundation, such as a stemwall, slab on grade, piers or posts. When the plan calls for a stem wall, our own dump trucks bring clean fill to raise the pad.
The county wants those numbers on paper before a new home goes up. Its new construction site plan lists the base flood elevation and the finished floor elevations for the house and garage. It also asks for existing and finished grades at each corner of the parcel. If the lot has a permitted seawall or rip rap, a copy of that permit goes in too. A surveyor or engineer sets the elevations, and our machines grade to them. If storm damage has you weighing repair against a teardown, read how the 50 percent rule decides a rebuild.
Apollo Beach did not fill in all at once. In the early 1960s, the Corr family sold the land to a Miami company. That company sold land on the northern border to Tampa Electric for a power plant site. That site is now the Big Bend Power Station. While the land sat in bankruptcy court, the dredge and fill permits for the canal system expired. Florida then tightened growth rules, with a growth management act in 1972 and more in 1984. Thomas Corr kept building and set aside hundreds of acres of mangrove swamp.
Those mangroves shape how a lot gets cleared today. In V and VE zones, federal flood rules require a ban on mangrove changes that would raise flood damage. So clearing the dry, buildable part of a lot comes first, and the mangrove edge stays put. Our skid steers and excavators pull brush and roots off the upland ground. Spoil and brush leave in our own dump trucks. Then we cut the grades the site plan shows, so rain moves off the pad. Apollo Beach permits run through Hillsborough County and its HillsGovHub system, not the City of Tampa.

We are an excavation contractor in Tampa, FL. Our excavators dig foundation pits, pool holes, drainage lines, and utility trenches on residential lots. Tampa Bay sand and a high water table change how a hole is cut, and we plan for both.

We do land grading on residential lots across Tampa Bay. Our excavators and skid steers cut the high spots and fill the low ones. The finished slope carries storm water away from your foundation and out to the street or a swale.

We take a raw lot to a build-ready pad. That covers stripping topsoil, cut and fill, stem wall backfill, and compaction in lifts. Your pad ends up at plan elevation, ready for the engineer to test and the slab crew to start.

We take a raw or teardown lot to a site your builder can start on. Clearing, digging, cut and fill, drainage and final grade run on one schedule. Our own dump trucks haul the dirt.

Standing water in the yard and water against the slab call for the same fix. We dig a gravel trench with perforated pipe in the bottom. The line slopes to a discharge point away from the house. Catch basins and downspout tie-ins handle the water where it starts.

We set new driveway culverts and replace crushed or rusted pipes. Where the permit allows it, we pipe an open roadside ditch and grade over it. Our own dump trucks haul the old pipe and spoil away and bring fill in.

We deliver fill dirt across Tampa Bay in our own dump trucks. Most dirt pits drop the load and leave. We bring the machine too, so the fill gets spread and packed down where you want it.
