House Demolition
We tear down houses, garages and outbuildings across Tampa Bay. The slab and footers come out and the debris leaves on our own dump trucks. The ground gets graded flat for whatever comes next.

Demolition in Odessa can mean an older house or barn coming down on open acreage. Odessa is an unincorporated census designated place in Pasco County. The 2020 census counted 8,080 people there. Northwest of Tampa, Odessa was long open ranch land with horse properties. Suburban neighborhoods now fill in as Tampa's population expands. Peter Demens of the Orange Belt Railway named Odessa in the 1880s. The rail line came through later and ran parallel with State Road 54. A large sawmill once gave the area work, until a fire burned it in 1922. Our base in the Citrus Park area of Tampa sits to the south, with Keystone in between.
Ranch land and new subdivisions call for different work. Where an older home still stands, house demolition clears the way for the next build. On older acreage, the house and a barn can come down as one job. Where brush and trees cover a future home site, the job starts with land clearing. We have prepped a building lot in Odessa ourselves. The county line runs along Odessa's south edge. Across it, Hillsborough County has an adopted Keystone-Odessa Community Plan. So for land near the line, the first question is which county holds the parcel. Our excavators and skid steers handle the heavy work, and debris leaves in our own dump trucks.

Odessa's census area lies entirely in Pasco County, so Pasco rules decide what a clearing job needs. The county has no lot clearing permit of any kind. Trees are the trigger instead. A native tree over 5 inches DBH, measured at chest height, needs a tree permit. Non-native trees are exempt. Palms are exempt too, along with pines other than longleaf pine. Every Pasco tree permit starts with an automatic replant. Building Construction Services issues it, and the application is filed in PascoGateway. Average review runs 3 to 4 business days, and an incomplete application slows it down.
A bare parcel adds a step. On a vacant parcel, Pasco wants an assigned address and a site development permit before any permit tree comes down. Once a tree permit issues, it gives a 30-day window to remove and replant. We schedule the clearing inside that window and leave room for the new trees. Brush and spoil leave the lot in our own dump trucks. Then site preparation sets the building pad at its planned height. On former pasture, grading can be a bigger job than clearing. The goal is a firm, level pad that sheds rainwater away from the house.
On the Pasco side, Building Construction Services issues residential demolition permits. The package covers a main house or an accessory building on the lot. Its site plan marks each structure being demolished with an X. It also shows setbacks to any wetland line, and to the mean high water line on waterfront lots. Those lines matter on any Odessa parcel that touches water. Every document goes in electronically through PascoGateway. Odessa shares that Pasco process with Land O' Lakes to the northeast. Florida law also requires a Sunshine 811 notice at least two full business days before digging starts.
South of the line, Keystone is unincorporated Hillsborough County. It moved from citrus and farming into a rural retreat of lake homes and ranches. Permits there go through HillsGovHub, the county's online permit system. There, a Grand Oak must stay unless the county authorizes its removal. On a lake lot, the finished grade has to move rain off the pad and away from the slab. Where a yard still holds water after a storm, drainage work carries it off. Spoil goes out in our own dump trucks, and the lot is left clean and graded.

We are an excavation contractor in Tampa, FL. Our excavators dig foundation pits, pool holes, drainage lines, and utility trenches on residential lots. Tampa Bay sand and a high water table change how a hole is cut, and we plan for both.

We do land grading on residential lots across Tampa Bay. Our excavators and skid steers cut the high spots and fill the low ones. The finished slope carries storm water away from your foundation and out to the street or a swale.

We take a raw lot to a build-ready pad. That covers stripping topsoil, cut and fill, stem wall backfill, and compaction in lifts. Your pad ends up at plan elevation, ready for the engineer to test and the slab crew to start.

Standing water in the yard and water against the slab call for the same fix. We dig a gravel trench with perforated pipe in the bottom. The line slopes to a discharge point away from the house. Catch basins and downspout tie-ins handle the water where it starts.

We set new driveway culverts and replace crushed or rusted pipes. Where the permit allows it, we pipe an open roadside ditch and grade over it. Our own dump trucks haul the old pipe and spoil away and bring fill in.
